Crosby Bellows Leak Detection

Discover Crosby's Bellows Leak Detection, remotely identifying PRV bellows ruptures and providing precise, real-time volumetric emissions measurement. Bellows issues, often stemming from backpressure and rapid cycling, can disrupt valve operation, causing overpressure. Traditional leak detection programs typically overlook bellows ruptures, which often go unnoticed until valve maintenance, leaving a gap in PRV installations, especially in remote or hazardous areas.

Detect Failures & Emissions

Crosby's Bellows Leak Detection solution offers an enhanced approach to identifying bellows failures and emissions. It includes a backup piston combined with a Rosemount™ wireless or wired pressure transmitter. The backup piston minimizes emissions by over 90% upon bellows rupture, thanks to its reduced clearance compared to a standard bonnet vent, ensuring balanced operation. The pressure transmitter provides immediate timestamped alerts for bellows failure and real-time emissions volume data.

You can opt for upgrade kits to equip existing Crosby J-Series PRVs with these advanced technologies, or choose to purchase new PRVs that come pre-installed with these features.

Ensure Compliance with EPA Regulations

Miscellaneous Organic Chemicals (MON) Regulation
The EPA's Miscellaneous Organic Chemicals (MON) Regulation for Monitoring PRDs, outlined in Subpart FFFF of the 40 CFR 63 National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), pertains to both new and existing manufacturers of Miscellaneous Organic Chemicals (MON).

According to this regulation, all Pressure Relief Devices (PRDs) in service with Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) must be fitted with a monitoring device by August 12, 2023.
Who does the MON regulation apply to?
The regulation applies to all existing and new Miscellaneous Organic Chemicals manufacturing process units that have the possibility of emitting Hazardous Air Pollutants. The HAP emitted from MON manufacturing facilities include (but are not limited to) toluene, ethylene oxide, methanol, xylene, hydrogen chloride, and methylene chloride.
What does the Pressure Relief Device (PRD) section entail?
Applicable PRDs are required to be equipped with a monitoring device that must be able to:
  • Detect the presence of a pressure relief event
  • Record the time and duration of the event
  • Immediately notify operators when a relief event occurs
  • Estimate the mass quantity in pounds of released HAPs
